Make your own vase and bowl out of papier-mâché and paint them with craft paint. These pieces have a homemade, 'random' look that fits perfectly with current interior design trends. This makes this activity interesting to older children, who will find it easy to make successful pieces they like.

How to do it
Papier-mâché bowl Inflate a balloon to 13 cm in diameter and tie a knot in the balloon.
2 Take half of your papier-mâché and mix it with water as indicated on the packaging. Now place your balloon in a bowl so that it doesn't roll around when you start to apply the papier-mâché. Cover just under half of the balloon with a thick layer of papier-mâché. It's important to keep the rustic look. Finish by flattening the base so that the bowl can stand unsupported after drying. Allow the papier-mâché to dry.
3 When the bowl is dry, remove the balloon and paint the bowl in the desired colour.
Papier-mâché vase Find a used 0.5 L-sized bottle and cut off the top.
5 Twist the bottle in the middle.
6 Take half of your papier-mâché and mix it with water as indicated on the packaging. Now cover the vase with your papier-mâché.
7 Smooth the papier-mâché with your fingers so that it does not crack during the drying process.
8 Make sure to apply some papier-mâché to the upper inner edge of the vase so that the plastic bottle is not visible.
9 Finally, make small indentations in the papier-mâché with your fingers – this creates a rustic look. Now let the vase dry.
10 When the vase is dry, paint it in the desired colour. Once the paint is dry, your vase is ready to use.
