Cast beautiful sculptures for your home with resin casting mix. Make one with marbling and the other with two colours – or create two sculptures using the same colour technique. Resin is a very strong casting powder that is easy to work with. Simply combine the casting mix with water and add acrylic paint. Use 35 g water for 100 g of resin casting mix.

1   Measure the mixture for the marbled sculpture: 135 g resin casting mix, 50 ml water and 3 ml paint.

2   Mix the resin and water until a creamy consistency.

3   Put a little paint on the spatula.

4   Mix in the paint with light, circular movements until a marble effect is achieved.

5   Pour the mixture into the mould.

6   Use the spatula to spread the mixture inside the mould.

7   Air bubbles can cause small chips in the finished casting. To prevent air bubbles from forming, lift the mould slightly and then drop it again. Repeat over and over again for around 2–3 min. Tip: If you see a chip/hole in the finished casting, you can fill it with new resin mixture and then sand it. Once it has hardened, it will be nice and smooth.

8   After drying for approx. 2–4 hours, remove the sculpture from the mould.

9   Sand the sculpture with water and a sanding sponge to remove any unevenness.

10   Measure the mixture for the two-coloured sculpture: 2 x 70 g resin casting mix, 2 x 25 ml water and 5 ml paint.

11   First combine 70 g of the pure white resin with 25 ml of water. Mix to a creamy consistency.

12   Pour the mixture into the mould.

13   Use the spatula to spread the mixture inside the mould.

14   Remove any air bubbles as described above (step 7).

15   Now mix the coloured part of the sculpture. Pour in 5 ml of paint in 25 ml of water and mix together.

16   Add the mixture to the 70 g of resin and stir to a creamy consistency.

17   Pour the mixture on top of the white resin in the mould. Remove any air bubbles as before.

18   After drying for approx. 2–4 hours, remove from the mould.

19   Sand away any unevenness with water and a sanding sponge.
