1   Cut the tubes to different lengths. Here, we've used lengths of 10, 9, 7½, 7, 5 and 3 cm. Draw small marks and use a hacksaw. (Please note: the 7 cm and 3 cm tubes are made from the same tube)
2   Paint the tubes with opaque craft paint in different colours. Apply two coats and allow to dry.
3   Glue the tubes together using a glue gun. Attach them while they are flat on the table so that the bottom is level.
4   Cut a base plate out of EVA foam with glitter and glue the tubes onto it.
5   To make the twisty stripes: Paint the tube white. Apply 9 mm masking tape around the tube – in 2 lines overlapping each other so that the stripe gets wider. Paint the tube black – apply two layers – and remove the tape.
