Turtles from Silk Clay and Pearl Clay

These cute turtles are made from polystyrene balls covered with Silk Clay and Pearl Clay. Mix the Pearl Clay colours the way you like to make different turtles.

1   Cut the large polystyrene balls in half for the turtles body. We have used a craft knife, but you need to use a small jig saw for cutting the large polystyrene balls in half. Do ask an adult to cut the polystyrene balls in half for you.

2   Roll out Silk Clay flat and cover the bottom of the halved polystyrene ball. Use scissors for trimming the Silk Clay as close to the edge as possible.

3   Cover one of the small, complete balls with Silk Clay for the head.

4   Mix Pearl Clay beads with the supplied modelling gel. Experiment with the colours by mixing several different colours of beads.

5   Mix the Pearl Clay modelling gel with the Pearl Clay beads.

6   Cover the curved part of the ball with Pearl Clay.

7   Roll out the Silk Clay flat and cut two circles measuring approx. 4 cm in diameter for the large turtle and 3 cm in diameter for the small turtle. Cut the circles in half.

8   Attach the semi circles underneath the bottom as shown in this photo.

9   Attach the head onto the turtle and push an eye onto each side of the head.
